In prehistory when Vampires first preyed on humans, they discovered that if a Vampire transplanted the hair from a young victim’s scalp onto his own head -- using a secret potion to prevent rejection of the transplant -- the Vampire’s life would be extended by the years the victim’s life was cut short. Periodically doing such transplants, a Vampire could achieve virtual immortality.
