How Bad Was It For Wet Nurses

Wet Nurses were treated horrible during slavery times and in my opinion the occupation was unnecessary because people could have breastfed their own babies. These characters may be fictional but the stories really happened and my heart goes out to all the women who were forced to be wet nurses.
