The derogatory term trailer trash didn''t exist fifty years ago. Mobile homes were accepted by the public as respectable residences for middle-income people. After the 1980s, things suddenly changed. Living in a trailer was looked upon as a demeaning lifestyle by some members of society. I have friends that lived in house trailers while growing up. Some of them will no longer admit to such.
