There''s something so charming about Chekhov''s short stories. sometimes the observations seem so commonplace, it''s not obvious why they are so pleasing. Even though they are set in places that are far-off in time and space, the scenes are so immediate, and the humanity is so poignant, that you have to marvel at the storyteller''s skill. (Amazon)
