More than sixty-five years after the end of the American Civil War, African-Americans still dealt with the debilitating poverty of sharecropping and the Depression, and the violence of the Ku Klux Klan during the 1930s. Two African-American brothers, James and Robert Paschal, persevered despite these limitations and realized their dreams through years of hard work and determination.
