Entre los anos 2012 y 2013 el Grupo de Investigacion en Gestion de Agroecosistemas Tropicales Andinos de la Facultad de Ciencias Ambientales, de la Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira, realizo el proyecto de investigacion denominado: Vislumbrando agroecosistemas menos vulnerables al cambio climatico en los Andes de Colombia, financiado por la Vicerrectoria de Investigaciones, Innovacion y Extension de la misma Universidad.
